HOW DOES COWORKING WORK?

THE HYBRID OFFICE VS. HOME OFFICE MODEL

With the pandemic and subsequent adaptations, many of our habits and, in general, our pace of life changed. A return to previous work modalities still seems far off; however, what initially seemed attractive about Home Office is beginning to be seen as detrimental in different areas for each person and in the joint work and productivity of the company. The lack of human contact, stress, and few adaptations at home to function as a workspace are situations for which most people were not prepared.

That is why work schemes have begun to evolve in ways that can help both companies and their employees, seeking mutual benefit. We will explain…

SAVINGS AND ORGANIZATION IN COMPANIES

Each organization, derived from exploring these new forms of work and especially to ensure its survival, has had to adapt, relocate expenses, and this need for a different approach continues. Therefore, most companies are still looking for the scheme that best favors them between Home Office and traditional schemes, many of them favoring and finding in a hybrid system that works for them and for all their employees. The constant meetings, the difficulty of communicating certain information online, the difficulties related to the organization, the control of the work done, and the times are a reality. We proposed a scheme in which a company can reduce expenses by renting a private space of fewer square meters, with all services included and often dividing the days in the office by areas.

For example: A company of 40 employees that has several work areas can rent a space for 20 people and register twice the number of accesses for all its employees. An organization is made to have all employees a few days at home and a few days in the office each week. This hybrid scheme is the most important trend, as reported by several surveys – 62% (of employees) want a hybrid scheme in which they have to attend the office between one and three days a week – according to a survey by Factor Capital Humano, El Economista.

PRODUCTIVITY AND SENSE OF COMMUNITY IN TEAMS

After several years in which most employees tried the Home Office system, they have the following as the main negative points of the scheme: increased workload, personal expenses not absorbed by the company, lack of a suitable place to work, little communication and interaction with the team, and the monotony of being alone becomes boring and depressing.

They are divided between the lack of social connection and the wear and tear of mobility.  For them, an ideal scheme appears in which they could go to the office, to deal with issues that could hardly be addressed from home, to safely resume a social life with their collaborators, and to encourage the exchange of ideas. This scheme has the great advantage of increasing people’s productivity. Feeling comfortable in a place dedicated to work, without noise, with good connection, they can fully take advantage of their working day in the office. This well-being is reflected in their disposition, in their work, and in the entire organization.

MENTAL HEALTH

We know that mental health is rarely a topic that employers worry about. That is why, thinking about providing comprehensive well-being for their teams, human interaction is essential. A traditional office scheme does not offer aspects that can positively influence work teams, such as: coexistence with work teams from other companies with which ideas, business contacts, and experiences can be shared. Common areas such as terraces, cafeterias, cabins, and rest spaces where they can not only be at their designated desks but can also change the traditional work format, thus making the day more dynamic and bearable. At INHOUSE, we have at least 50% of common areas in our spaces, which are not saturated and promote a balance between privacy, productivity, and aesthetics.
